FILING PROCEDURES

1. One copy of the complaint (Complaint Form) and accompanying documentation should be e-mailed, faxed, mailed or hand delivered to the contact below. Submissions must be legible whether scanned or faxed.  Please submit to:
            Westchester County Fair Campaign Practices Committee

Only candidates who have filed or intend to file with the Board of Elections may submit an unfair campaign practices complaint to the Committee.

2. Complaints must be filed by 1:00 p.m. Monday for possible action on the following week's agenda. A phone call must be made to the Coordinator, Miriam Cohen, 914-633-7889, alerting her that a complaint is being filed. Complaints filed within the seven days before Election Day must be filed by 10:00 a.m. on the Monday before Election Day.

3. Candidates may also file post-election complaints by 9:00 PM on the seventh day after the election. (See Campaign Practices Manual under Hearings.)

4. A copy of the complaint and accompanying documentation must be sent to the person(s)/group(s) complained against by e-mail or fax and also by either certified mail with return receipt or hand delivery with proof of delivery. Complaints filed within seven days preceding Election Day must be hand delivered (personally or through any delivery agency), or faxed to both the Westchester County Fair Campaign Practices Committee and the party complained against, with verification of receipt. The complaint must be signed by the complaining candidate.
